Food: Fed by Water
Hello everyone! I was scrolling through my phone the other day and found a picture of this carbonara that I had when me and my two friends went to Fed By Water. This was actually my second time at Fed By Water. The first time I went I actually had a pizza which was very delicious although I don't have any photos of the occasion as my photos came out darker than I was anticipating as the lights aren't very bright in there.
This time around I skipped the pizza despite the fact that all my friends had opted for a variation of the pizza. Instead I opted for the carbonara. If you haven't heard about them, Fed are an vegan gourmet Italian restaurant that is based on the Kingsland Road in Dalston. They recently however closed but are set to reopen very soon in a new location and I honestly cannot wait for them to reopen as after this carbonara they had become one of my firm favourites.
The Carbonara is a little more expensive than what you'd get in a place like ZiZi's but you have to remember that this is a gourmet restaurant and in my opinion, the quality of their food is extremely high. Additionally, the portions are humongous it genuinely took me ages to finish all of this.
The carbonara had a thick creamy sauce and smoked seitan chunks on top of the massive plate. I found it best to eat a little bit of the seitan first before mixing it into the pasta. Whilst the past was rich and creamy the taste was not one bit sickening and although it was a bit different from how I remember the real thing tasting, I thought that this was an incredible effort to veganise a dish that I thought I would never be able to enjoy again.
Once they're re-open and have released a new address, I urge you to head down and check them out. You won't be disappointed at all.
