Finally, spring has come to the UK. After months of everyone waiting and two bouts of heavy snow, we finally got a mini heatwave and everyone was out in the sun. Whilst it's nice to be in outdoors to soak in as much vitamin D and heat that you can get it is important to stay protected from the harmful UV rays of the sun which can cause skin cancer. Sunscreen of the right SPF can protect you from these and even shield you from a nasty sunburn. As someone whose summer activities mostly consist of going to festivals, sunscreen is an integral part of my festival going experience.

From last year's Glastonbury festival experience, I learned the hard way that it is important for you to buy a sunscreen with an appropriate SPF number in order to avoid an nasty uncomfortable burn that could potentially ruin your experience. I remember towing factor 30 sunscreen to the festival last year despite knowing that it was going to be ridiculously hot. All in all, I was just trying my best to 1. save money and 2. not waste the sunscreen that I already had. The higher up the factor numbers you go, I notice that there is also a considerable hike in price which may put some people off buying sunscreen that they may actually need for adequate protection.

Thankfully, the guys at Altruist approached me to try out their sunscreen. I was given the option of either choosing the SPF 30 or 50 to try but went with the 50 after remembering the state my skin was in after last years Glasto fest. I sometimes need to remember that despite being half-Asian, I have not lived in a hot country for 8 years now and my skin is no longer used to extreme heat.  The formula itself was created by two ethically motivated altruists who teamed up to produce the finest quality UV protection for the lowest price.  One of their founders Dr. Birnie believes that cost shouldn't be a factor when deciding whether or not to wear sunscreen and that everyone should have the basic right to take precautions to reduce their risks of skin cancer and I absolutely agree with this. Their sunscreens retail on Amazon at £5 for the 200ml invisible spray for both SPF 30 & 50. The creams on the other hand cost £4 for the SPF 30 in 200ml and £3.75  for the SPF 50 which is available in 100ml. 

This arrived  perfectly in time for the mini heatwave and as I was going on a walk the same day in the sun so I immediately tried this out. Although I love fragranced sunscreens, it did not bother me one bit that this was unfragranced. Furthermore, unlike a lot of well known sunscreens this did not one bit feel sticky throughout the day which is great because no one needs that feeling when it is already hot out.

Overall, I am pretty impressed with this product. For such a low price, these really do the job. I was not burnt at all and I was happy knowing I had the adequate protection from the sun. So if you're headed outdoors this summer, to a festival, holiday or even a walk in the park. Be sure to buy sunscreen that will protect you and for an affordable price this will.
